More About Bungalows
I have spent many happy days, growing up, in and around Old British & Pahadi cottages, forest guest houses & Dak Bungalows, in the hills. That’s why, it’s always been a dream to develop a project that took inspiration from those British & Kumaoni~pahadi styles.
Old British Cottages had two key features I loved, amongst several others. Airy rooms with lots of space for entertaining and ‘open-to the-outdoors’ spaces. Perfect for un-hurried conversations with guests, over brunches, high-teas and dinners. Yet, the bedrooms were away from the noise. Cozy, with large windows for reading, writing or just gazing.
The Dak Bungalows are at Mauna, a small quaint village away from the crowded hill stations, on a road going nowhere important. Each cottage is well distanced from the other, allowing privacy and quiet. A lot of land in between has been left open & un-touched, much like how we first saw the land.
I intend to make The Dak Bungalows, as if they were part of the land and one with the mountain, like the old cottages. Catching the wind and the sun as the land would have done naturally.
